Synopsis
On April 21, 1967, a group of army officers overturned Greece’s democratic parliament and established a military dictatorship that would last for seven years. While most of Europe and the western world was experiencing the great cultural and social transformations of the post-war period, Greece sank into oppression. With severe restrictions imposed on their freedom, some Greek youths and members of civil society joined the resistance, despite repression from the Regime of the Colonels. Told through eyewitness accounts from opponents and political prisoners of the regime, including some who were forced into exile, the film recounts the Greek people’s long struggle to free itself from dictatorship. A gripping and immersive tale that sheds light on a little-known but crucial chapter in European history.
